Carbs on the Marlin - Vitesse MK2, I think they are the later emission control GT6 carbs (red stickers, no jet adjuster on the base), the cable is! Which may explain why I need next to no choke when cold as presumably GT6 carbs delivered more fuel? They are very worn though and I have too top up the dashpot oil monthly!
I have what I think is a fuel starvation problem. Starts and ticks over OK, but under load power drops off and engine noise is ‘farty’ and ‘dull’.. :) I will remove that ‘fuel octane booster from the ‘80′s next to the filter and check other pipework.’
Distributor and rest of ignition system is new and timing OK. 150lbs compression on each cylinder. Breather pipes seem OK. New fuel filter but condition of tank unknown so could just be picking up rubbish at the tank outlet.
