I’ve part exchanged JRR, the Marlin prototype

I’ve part exchanged JRR, the Marlin prototype. With no weather gear I wasn’t using it, and I needed something larger, more modern and needing no work. It’s gone back to Danny.

I’m now the 4th owner of Q309 RNV, an early Marlin Cabrio built by Bob Copping in the early 90′s from new and refurbished parts (rather than stripping a Ford Sierra donor car). Bob passed the car onto Danny who then sold it to Doug & Liz who ran it all over Europe for 16 years. Doug and Liz also owned JRR for a while!

I’ve already been for a run out, it’s just like driving any other modern soft top sports car, with proper doors, wind up windows, a heater and a folding top. With high profile tyres and the Ford Sierra suspension it manages to absorb the bumps but being only 700kg it doesn’t roll around on the twisty bits. I see why automotive journalists who reviewed the car back in the 90′s preferred it to the Morgans of the time.
