Fixing @sparrowmailapp 1.3 upgrade #fail

I’ve fixed the @sparrowmailapp 1.3 upgrade issue I had earlier today. I’d installed Sparrow via the app store and then downloaded the 1.3 upgrade .dmg file from their web site, this it seems is what caused my problem. 

These are the steps I took;

1. Backup ‘Sparrow’ dat in [user]/Library/Application Support/Sparrow…
2. Backup the Sparrow preferences file in [user]Library/Preferences
3. Delete the folder/file just backed up
4. Delete sparrow.app

At this point you have a non working setup, no really :)

1. If you go into the OSX App Store you’ll see that the store thinks Sparrow is still installed.
2. Shutdown the Mac and reboot
3. Go back into the app store and I was able to reinstall now
4. Restore the backed up files

Now I still had to recreate my mail accounts and I’m not 100% sure I’ve got all my local mail but at least I have a working install now.

Of course a shortcut to this maybe to just delete the .app file and reboot, maybe then the App Store will let you reinstall.
